Passionate for plants..especially edible ones. Vegetable and herbs of all kinds find there way into my kitchen. The produce section, farmers market, is a world of color, shape, aroma and texture. Explore along with me as I experiment, ponder, taste and savor the foods of a vegetable lifestyle. I love having a herb and vegetable garden... and encourage anyone with a bit of land or a pot to try. Of course, these days you can't think of food or farming without considering being green or eco.

Macro Dinner

Quick and easy Macrobiotic Dinner

  • Pan roasted dulse
  • Sauteed kale with garlic
  • Arame seaweed with tamari and brown rice vinegar
  • Sweet potato fries
  • Quinoa
  • Arugula

Basically, this way of eating focuses on local and seasonal foods that balance each other in harmonic ways.
Some people follow this diet as a philosophy of life and others follow it for health reasons.

Manna Bread

My first attempt at making sprouted bread...actually very easy to make.  But it does take 3 days to sprout the wheat berries.

Sprout wheatberries until they start to have a "tail"

Rinse well and let drain for a bit.

In a food processor process until the berries on fully mashed.

Place in a mixing bowl...I add sesame seeds and
some sea saIt and mix with a spatual.
It comes out pretty sticky and wet...
gently "knead" in your hands for a few minutes
then form into a flat loaf.

Place on a greased baking sheet.

Bake for 2-2 1/2 hours at 225 degrees.

The outside will get crisp but the inside will stay very moist.

Dr. Hauschka Skincare event

Some photos from a free "Radiant You" event
I organized with the great people from
Dr. Hauschka skin care company.

Dr. Hauschka-A Mission to Support the Healing of Humanity and the Earth

The founder of Dr.Hauschka manufacturer WALA Heilmittel gave his company a mission that continues to this day. Dr. Rudolf Hauschka's goal "to support the healing of humanity and the earth" informs not only the culture of Dr.Hauschka Skin Care and its manufacturer, WALA Heilmittel, but also the company's business practices, production methods and the very nature of the company's products themselves.
Inspired by our vision of a culture of care, we've created a company powered by principle. Everything we do is in the interest of fostering well-being in the world, from our ecologically sound methods of growing and sourcing ingredients to our one-of-a-kind manufacturing processes and international fair trade initiatives.

New York Vegetarian Food Festival

Just got back from the Festival...lots of photos to go thru and post.  Everything from Vegan marshmallows (yea!) to Vegan Sailing vacations.

Met some great people. Nice to be in a atmosphere of like minded folks.

Even if you are not a vegetarian...it is a great festival to go to if you are interested a healthy food and alternatives.

I wish there had been more NYC restaurants represented and the city's farmers markets... maybe next year.

Check back soon for photos, information and some thoughts.
